What is True Trade Initiative?
Is the way Jardín del Cielo goes beyond fair trade by fixing the needs of the artisans communities working with us.
Wayuú communities live in extreme poverty conditions with no fresh water or energy and even as we are proud to pay our artisans above market price for their products allowing them to provide constant revenue for their families, we've come to realized that is not enough to reach our main goal: the economic independence of our weavers under the best living conditions.
We have came up with a plan to achieve this by giving them the appropriate tools so they can improve their quality of life and at the same time increasing their productivity and revenue.
By having a plan by stages focusing on 1. Productivity, 2. Education and 3. Self Sustainability
they will progressively achieve more revenue, better education and quality of life for new generations
1. Workshops
This is the first step, communities bigger need is having basic infrastructure like electricity or fresh water and we are determined to change that. We are creating small solution for each community which main goal is to give them the tools to create value and revenue for themself:
1 Small structure to fit 6 to 10 artisans + Tool Kits $3,500 USD
1 Solar Water Filter System for well water $4,500 USD
1 Solar Solution for Electricity $1,500 USD
Total: $9.500 USD*
2. Education
Once we having constant revenue for the community we will move on to provide the right space for kids in the community to have the basic education they need to prepare them for a better future. A modular solution starting by giving artisans working in the workshop the chance to have their kids close to them + the space and tools they need to learn in a proper way. Progressively, as the workshop gets bigger, expand the school for more children, adding a library and later on computers and Internet
1 Small Structure for 10 Kids $3,200 USD
10 School Kits & Equipment $750 USD
Breakfast for 10 Children 1 Year $1.700 USD
Tuition Fee 10 Kids for 1 Year $5,000 USD
1 Solar Solution for Electricity $850 USD
Total $11.500 USD*
Once we have the funds, we'll built the two structures in the same place and start a productive center for the community.

*We will be donated 10% of our net sales after each quarter. Below is a breakdown of how we reach the donation amount.
Gross Sales of Each Product – Discounts on Each Product – Returns of Each Product - Cost of Goods Sold - Cost of Facebook Ads Used To Market Product (30%) = Net Sales
Then we multiply the net sales by .10 to reach 10% of net sales per product sold.
